Basic facts Term 4

We have been working on answering basic facts questions quickly and instantly.

I should be working on Stage 5. 

I am at Stage 4. I got 15 out of 60.

Handwriting

At the end of this term we did our handwriting sample. We had to use our capital and lower case letters and write a sentence about our science fair.

What I like about my handwriting is that I did my best.
What I could do better is try to have consistent letter size.

Speech Writing

For the last two weeks we have been working on writing speeches.
My topic was saving endangered animals.
We had to present them in front of our class.
I think I did really really good at my speech.

Have you ever thought about saving endangered animals? I have. For example pandas. Pandas are the cutest animal in China. Sadly they are being hunted down and people are killing them. In the wild people kill bears, elephants, rhinos and even tigers too. I believe that we don’t have to kill animals because they are part of nature. 

Firstly, elephants should not be killed because they are important to the world. Why are elephants being hunted down you ask?  They are hunted down for their tusks to make jewellery like taonga or as you call them necklaces. Piano keys are also made out of elephant tusks and they could be made out of rhinos horns too.

Secondly, pandas should not be killed either. People kill them for fur to make coats. People kill tigers, bears,  polar bears and lions too. Some people kill animals that don't have fur to make leather coats. Leather comes from animals like cows and even crocodile and alligator are used for leather to make belts, shoes and bags.

Finally, saving animals is what we need to do and I know where to put the animals. We should put the animals in cages and move them to the zoo. So the people do not kill the animals like bears, tigers, and monkeys too. The zoo keepers keep the animals safe at the zoo. The zoo keepers also give the animals food and medicine when they are sick. Oh and one more fact. Why can’t the killers kill the animals? Because there is glass on the cages to keep the animals safe.

I believe that all animals should be safe and not killed by hunters. We can save the animals by putting them safely in the zoo.

These are my Basic Facts results for the end of Term One.
I am working on Stage 2-3 and I got 28 out of 30.
I need to be on Stage 5 by the end of the year.

Bug Hotel

We were making a bug hotel. We used sticks, bamboo and flowers. We put the flowers in the bamboo so that's how we decorated it. We made a hotel to attract good bugs.

Today I learnt how to make a GIF. I made one of a spider eating a fly.
